TIP47 (47kDa tail-interacting protein; also PLIN3) facilitates lipid droplet development. It's found in human and bovine milk fat globule membranes, and is also a placental protein. Elevated TIP47 levels are seen in cervix carcinoma patient circulation, decreasing post-surgery. TIP47 shares around 40% sequence similarity with adipophilin (PLIN2). The GP30 antiserum specifically targets TIP47 (PLIN3), avoiding cross-reaction with other PLIN/PAT family proteins. It reacts with PLC cells pretreated with oleic acid.
