This antibody specifically targets cingulin, a roughly 150 kD polypeptide, found in tight junctions of various epithelia types, including polar (colon, duodenum, etc.), transitional (bladder), and stratified (skin, tongue, etc.). It does not react with endothelia in vessels and capillaries, such as those in the heart and brain.
