Special Features

  • Ship model for adults. Modelling kit to build expert level. The model is made up of high precision laser-cut board parts, hardwoods, brass, cast iron, threads and sails made of cotton ready to be placed. As a bonus, it also brings a wooden exhibition base to be built. This beautiful sailboat has a construction system using false keel and frames, so the assembly of the replica is close to the construction of the real clipper.
  • The Cutty Sark was dedicated in its early years to the tea race, trying to unite China and London in the shortest possible time over eight 'tea seasons'. Later, he would dedicate himself to the wool trade from Australia. Later it would be used for the transport of goods between Porto, Rio de Janeiro, New Orleans, Lisbon and the Portuguese colonies.
  • This model is at a scale of 1:84. Once it is built, this faithful miniature replica measures 40.62'' (1,032mm) length, 13.77'' (350mm) width and 24.56'' (624mm) height.
  • In the box, you will find all the necessary parts to make this scale replica of the naval model. For the assembly, you can follow our complete step-by-step guide on DVD for computer. Description

Discover the Cutty Sark, a wooden ship model of this legendary 19th-century clipper-class boat. Built for the Tea Race and one of the fastest ships of its time, it is now kept as a museum ship in Greenwich, UK. Built and launched in Dumbarton, Scotland in 1869, the Cutty Sark spent her early years in the tea race, attempting to link China and London in the shortest possible time over eight 'tea seasons'. The same year it was launched, the Suez Canal was opened, which made the route much shorter and gave steamships an advantage. It was possible for a sailboat to traverse it, but it was difficult and expensive. Finally, in 1954 it would be transferred to a dry dock and converted into a museum ship. For assembly you can follow our complete step-by-step instructions on DVD for computer (PC and Mac), accompanied by full-scale drawings of the finished model. The kit does not contain printed instructions. You can also download the digital instructions for free on the manufacturer's website, Artesanía Latina.
