Nylon insert locknuts are also known as stop nuts. Locknuts are used to tighten onto bolts when mechanically joining materials together. The bolt threads in the nylon material are located at the top of the nut. The purpose of the nylon insert is to prevent dislodging or loosening due to vibration.
