Displacement transducers utilise conductive plastics and brushes for the direct measurement of position or the contour of an object without any form of solid mechanical coupling. A distinctive and important feature of these sensor assemblies is their robust and engineering-tested construction. Of particular importance are the flexible bearings at the ends of the sensors that provide effective cushioning when lateral stresses are encountered such as in cam applications. The stop nut at the rear of the tie rod is designed for easy connection to electromagnetic and pneumatic-hydraulic actuators.
