The Brownlee Classic Electrolysis Apparatus performs electrolysis using J-hook type platinum tipped electrodes positioned under collection tubes that are attached to a plastic support base. This apparatus comes with a glass reservoir to hold liquids. Used in many science education chemistry classrooms and homeschools because it is a fun and interesting experiment.
Designed primarily to electrolyze water, this apparatus can be used with many other aqueous solutions. For examples solutions of ammonia, hydrochloric or nitric acids, and sodium chloride.
Included in this kit is a support for the electrodes, 2 electrodes, two graduated collection tubes, a 800ml borosilicate glass beaker is provided as a reservoir, and the instruction guide.
The recommended power supply is 6-12 volts DC by means of a battery of power supply. The top of the electrodes has a knurl nut for easy connection to a power supply.
The Brownlee's Electrolysis Apparatus should be rinsed and dried before it is stored and made ready for the next use.
