The Better Geiger Radiation Detector is designed to be a sensitive, accurate, and easy to use tool to measure potentially hazardous radiation levels. The user can set dose rate and total dose alarms as desired. It uses a solid scintillator material instead of a traditional Geiger tube. Compared to the M4011 type Geiger tube commonly used in other detectors, with a Cs-137 source the Better Geiger is over 3x more sensitive and can measure 100x higher maximum dose rates (up to 100 mSv/hr), making it more suitable for extreme environments. The OLED screen is bright and clearly visible even in daylight. Controls are handled by six simple to use buttons. A rubber shock-absorber is included for ruggedness. An optional waterproof case can be purchased to protect the device further. An optional test source sample can be included as well, a small quantity of natural uranium ore.
