About our Artist: Javanese artisan Priyo Salim majored in cartography because he wanted to work in the civil service. 'But life makes you follow your destiny, and mine was to be a jewelry designer' he says. 'My father asked me if I could help him and take his place to continue this family tradition. I made the right choice, thanks to my father's love. When I took over my father's workshop, I had a cultural goal – to revive repoussé art that flourished during Java's Mataram Kingdom and lasted until the 1940s....
