Does the pedal lock at a constant speed or do you have to keep your foot on?

The foot pedal can adjust the speed and lock at a constant speed, you don't need to step on it all the time.

Can this machine use bats or do you have to throw directly on the wheel head?

You can throw the clay directly; or if you want to use a bat, you can stick it to the wheel head with a slab of soft clay.

Is the direction of rotation adjustable for left-handed potters?

Yes! It can go clockwise or counterclockwise.

Is the splash guard basin removable?

Yes it is removable. It kind of snaps on/off.

What material are the pedals made from?

The foot pedal is made of plastic.

Does this have forward and reverse?
