Our Pirarucu skins are farm raised for food in Brazil. After processing the meat, the skins are tanned and finished at the source, preserving their natural strength and flexibility. During the tanning process, the scales are inverted by hand to create a raised, three-dimensional texture that accentuates the organic pattern of the skin and enhances the distinctive look of the scales. This specialized treatment highlights scales while also maintaining the natural durability and softness of the leather.
