Tiger Eye Nerite Snails have dual benefits; they add sophistication to your aquarium decor and naturally clear your home or desktop aquarium! These live snails are known as the best eater snails in the aquarium hobby. Their shells resemble highly-polished Tiger's Eye stones with beautiful olive coloration. Also known as Olive Nerite Snails, they will consume uneaten fish food and biofilm, plus they clear off aquarium glass, plants, and decorations. They also wipe your aquarium substrate to keep it the correct color. These snails are peaceful and safe with any nonaggressive freshwater fish, freshwater shrimp, and aquarium plants (such as Marimo Moss Balls, Staurogyne repens, etc.). Tiger Eye Nerites range from 1/2 to 1 inch in diameter, and while most remain around 1 inch throughout their lifespan, the occasional snail will reach 1.5 inches. Their small size makes them great for nano aquariums atop a 2 aquarium stand, or a small hanging aquarium. They are perfect for plant aquariums. Some Nerite Snails are finicky about eating dry snail pellets, but typically enjoy spirulina, wafers, and other foods with plenty of plant content. Nerite Snail is sometimes misspelled as Nerrite Snail. We recommend keeping the water line relatively low, as this snail will occasionally climb up beyond the water line. Nerite Snails do not tolerate water with high nitrate levels. They do not reproduce in freshwater, so snail overpopulation will not occur unless you keep them in a saltwater or frag aquarium.
