What's the difference between infrared filters?
Infrared filters, sometimes referred to as IR filters or endothermic filters, are designed to allow mid-infrared wavelengths in the infrared while blocking visible light. They are often used in equipment with bright incandescent bulbs (such as slide projectors and projectors) to prevent unnecessary heating. Due to the high sensitivity of many camera sensors to near-infrared light, there are also filters for solid-state (CCD or CMOS) cameras that allow infrared. These filters usually have a blue tint because they sometimes block some of the shorter visible and ultraviolet wavelengths of light as well.
