Function:
A camshaft is a shaft to which a cam is fastened or of which a cam forms an integral part. Within an internal combustion engine a camshaft is a long slender rod that has several individual cam lobes attached to it.These lobes are responsible for pushing against valves that open and close the exhaust stroke and compression strokes.
