The Nordic nRF24L01+ (plus) is a highly integrated, ultra low power (ULP) 2Mbps RF transceiver IC for the 2.4GHz ISM (Industrial, Scientific and Medical) band. The Enhanced ShockBurst? hardware protocol accelerator offloads time critical protocol functions from the application microcontroller enabling the implementation of advanced and robust wireless connectivity with any kind of micro controller. The Nordic nRF24L01+ integrates a complete 2.4GHz RF transceiver, RF synthesizer, and baseband logic including the Enhanced ShockBurst® hardware protocol accelerator.
The 2nd chip on this transceiver module, the RFaxis RFX2401C, contains a LNA for the receiver, PA for the transmitter, two switches, the associated matching network, and the harmonic filter. The RFaxis RFX2401C RF Front – End IC (RFeIC?) increases the transmitted power and reduces the receiver noise figure leading to range extension and more robust communication.
The maximum transmission range of the nRF24L01+ with PA and LNA module is about 1100 m (with standard antenna). The 3.3V regulation on an original Arduino board (Uno, Mega or Nano for example) is unfortunately NOT strong enough to supply enough current for the high power transmission (peak current up to 150mA)! Most of our compatible Arduino MEGA and UNO boards have stronger voltage regulation and can supply enough power for the wireless module.
