Hand carved gourd rain stick rattle (maraca) by Peruvian carver Luz Laureano. Incredible rain sound and percussion beats from the metal beads trickling inside. These one of a kind instruments are made without power tools using eucalyptus embers to produce the shading and carving knives to decorate the parts of each rain stick. Beautifully finished with a light wax each set is unique. Gourds have been carved in the Andes of Peru for over 4,000 years. This tradition is carried on by Luz Laureano one of six carvers in our studios in Peru. Our gourds are completely dried. They will last along time and the colors don't fade. In addition they are not fragile to handle.
