Description

The Replogle Reso “Standard 10 1/2” Series spider-bridge style cone is hand-spun in California using a special hardened aluminum alloy for maximum strength, tone, projection and sustain. This is a replacement cone for Dobro, Regal and other brands that may use a 10.5” resonator net soundwell construction and that won't accommodate the slightly larger contemporary spider-cones. The “Standard 10 ½ Series″ spider-style resonator cone measures an actual 10.4375″ (10 7/16″) cone diameter. The edges are rolled up to create a bead that structurally reinforces the durability of the cone edges and yields a slightly smaller diameter of 10.4375”. These cones may NOT be trimmed. The spider-style cones have been used since the mid-1990's in US-made Dobro-brand guitars produced by the Original Musical Instrument Company (OMI) and the Original Acoustic Instrument (OAI) company under Gibson. Until recently Replogle cones have only been available directly to custom builders and manufacturers- they have been used by OMI, OAI, Gibson, Scheerhorn, Crafters of Tennessee, Beard, Owens, Wechter, Weber, and Regal (Saga Music) among others. Now, the Replogle cones are available directly to individual players and builders around the world. The History. Mike Replogle learned the art of hand-spinning resonators directly from “the Old Man”, an old-school metal spinner that immigrated to the US and was the spinner-behind-the-scenes for nearly every resonator since the 1960's. Replogle studied, practiced, and perfected his hand-spinning technique under the direct tutelage of the Old Man in his retirement, preserving the legacy of the authentic Dobro cones for future generations.
