5-HTP - the basic substance for serotonin and melatonin
5-HTP (5-hydroxytryptophan) occurs naturally in high concentrations in Griffonia Simplicifolia. The body also forms 5HTP itself from the amino acid L tryptophan. In the next step 5 - HTP is then converted into serotonin also called the "happiness hormone" or "wake hormone". Serotonin is the starting substance for melatonin, the "sleep hormone". Both hormones together form counterparts and are fundamentally important for our sleep-wake rhythm. In order to sleep better at night it is important that the body produces more melatonin from serotonin during the course of the day. Falling asleep quickly and sleeping through the night is only possible with enough of serotonin and melatonin. Vitamin B6 is one of the most important cofactors of the entire organism, especially in the production of serotonin. We added the metabolically active form of vitamin B6, pyridoxal-5-phosphate, to our 5-HTP supplement. This B6 form has the highest bioavailability and does not need to be activated first. The serotonin level also has a huge influence on our mood as the happiness hormone. 5-HTP from Griffonia is a good way to supply the body with sufficient raw materials for neurotransmitter production from a plant source. Paired with vitamin B6 as a co-factor you are ideally supplied!
