Acacia tree with birds perched all over it. Ancient Egyptians regarded the acacia tree as the tree of life, and they frequently depicted it with the sycamore tree in wall paintings and murals. and Osiris, among other deities, were frequently depicted emerging from those trees.
The different stages of human life—infancy, childhood, youth, adulthood, and maturity—are represented by the birds in the Tree of Life.
Each phase results in an increase in size for each bird. The tree with fruits is represented, ready to be gathered at each stage of man's life, because every soul has importance and a purpose on earth. Because the sun rose in the east, ancient Egyptians believed that the direction east was the direction of life. West was regarded as the direction of death and the underworld because it was where the sun set. They thought that the sun passed through the underworld during the night on its journey back to the east, where it would rise the following morning.
