Stryi Co. represents gouges in #5, #7, #8, #9 radial profiles: #5 - very slight radial bend, #7 - slight radial bend, #8 - medium radial bend, #9 - accurate round bend, so professionals carvers and beginners can choose needed wood carving tools.

The wood carving gouges #7 profile is used to carve the blank into rough form and to work on large areas. The rounded chisel is also good to level or flatten concave areas.

Main peculiarity of the hand gouge is professionally hardened, sharpened and polished blade, so it goes through cuts easy. Good for soft and hard wood.

BLADE MATERIAL of the woodworking gouge - chromium contained carbon steel W 108. The steel is hardened to 60-62 Hrc, the blade is razor sharpened, so be careful during woodcarving.
Hardened high carbon, chromium containing low alloy steel has perfectly balanced properties for producing wood carving and cutting tools. It's high strength, wear resistant steel, which keeps sharpening for a long time of use.
