Description

"Can you swim?" asks Roger Moore playing the famous 007 as he careens off the dock to submerge this Lotus Esprit Submarine, also known as Wet Nellie, in the 1977 James Bond film 'The Spy Who Loved Me.' Considered the second best gadget car behind the DB5 driven by Bond and beloved by all. It was the first car submarine shown in a movie and opened up imaginations about technology for the future and Lotus was drowning in orders for their new Esprit after the release of the movie, so much so that they had a 3 year waiting list. Behind the mastery of film making, the car was turned into a wet sub when completely submerged, the former Navy Seal Don Griffin, piloted the submarine garnerd complete SCUBA gear for the enterprise. The Lotus Esprit Submarine is currenlty owned by Elon Musk that plans to fit Tesla technology to create the magic shown in the movie to become a reality and build it into a functional land to water car submarine! This Scalextric car is displayed in submarine mode, but do not actually put in water!
