Directions: For store bought handles that have a varnish, remove varnish with 220 grit sandpaper, then sand to 400 grit. For first time use, push cloth covered finger tip into wax to break the surface. The wax will feel hard at first but will spread nicely onto handle. Apply a decent amount of wax covering all of the wood and let sit in the sun or next to the fireplace for an hour or so. A hair dryer can be used for the impatient. Buff off excess with a lint free cotton rag, an old t-shirt works best. The more heat generated by the rubbing the better it will penetrate. Repeate as necessary to achieve your desired results.
