If you repair the connector and do not replace the lid switch, you will melt the new connector.
If your machine is not draining,or not moving on to the agitating cycle,or spin cycle,you could have a broken lid switch.As a safety feature,when the lid switch is broken the machine won't advance past the FILL stage,and also needed a connector because it was burnt up and fused to the switch.
