This listing is for an original 1970s Chinese leather holster for the Type 59 pistol, China's licensed copy of the Soviet Makarov 9mm. The Type 59 was finalized in 1959 and was primarily issued to senior officers and pilots, rather than regular PLA units. During the 1980s export-for-revenue era, the Type 59 was briefly revived and exported to Western markets. China also supplied these pistols and accessories to Vietnam during the Vietnam War, where the Type 59 was known as the K-59. The holster offered here is a 1970s Chinese-made example, without factory or date stamps, consistent with equipment produced for foreign military aid. It is very likely one of the holsters intended for Vietnam. This holster is unissued surplus, though it may show minor storage marks, light wear, dust, or surface impressions due to decades of storage. These do not affect usability. The leather remains soft and fully functional. A rare Cold War / Vietnam War–era piece that combines both collectability and practical use.
