Protect the NMEA 2000 backbone that connects your marine electronics. The Bad Wolf SPN2K-12BA is a 12VDC NMEA 2000 backbone surge protector designed to help protect both power and data lines from voltage spikes, electrical transients, induced voltage, and lightning-related surge events. Modern boats often rely on a single NMEA 2000 network to connect chartplotters, GPS antennas, fish finders, autopilots, VHF radios, engine gateways, sensors, displays, and other critical electronics. Because these devices communicate through the same backbone, added protection at the backbone can help reduce the risk of damage spreading through the network. The SPN2K-12BA installs inline in the NMEA 2000 backbone as a pass-through device. It can also be used on a drop cable for additional point-of-use protection near sensitive electronics. For layered protection, pair the SPN2K-12BA with the Bad Wolf SPN2K-12DA power cable surge protector. The SPN2K-12DA protects the 12VDC NMEA 2000 power feed, while the SPN2K-12BA adds protection at the backbone/data path.
