The prostate is a sex gland organ unique to men. The prostate is an unpaired solid organ, composed of glandular tissue and muscular tissue. The prostate is like a chestnut, with its base facing upwards and pressing against the bladder, and its tip facing downwards, touching the urogenital diaphragm. It is attached to the pubic symphysis in the front and the rectum at the back. Therefore, when there is an enlarged prostate, digital rectal examination can be performed to feel the back of the prostate. The middle of the prostate gland is crossed by the urethra, which guards the upper opening of the urethra. Therefore, when the prostate is diseased, urination is the first to be affected.
The prostate is divided into five lobes, namely the anterior lobe, middle lobe, posterior lobe and bilateral lobe. Among them, the anterior lobe is very small and is located between the left and right bilateral lobes and the urethra, and has no significant meaning. The posterior lobe is located behind the middle lobe and the bilateral lobes. It can be felt during digital rectal examination. There is a physiological central sulcus in between. During digital rectal examination, it is often determined whether the prostate is enlarged based on whether this central sulcus becomes shallower or disappears. The main areas where prostate hyperplasia frequently occurs are the middle lobe and the two lateral lobes
