The VK1 bass clarinet reed is a synthetic reed made of a composite material specially developed by Vandoren in the South of France. The composite material does not imitate the structure of cane, but instead reproduces the essential performance characteristics of the reed to obtain the same acoustic behavior. Ideal for challenging performance conditions that demand increased responsiveness and durablity such as outdoor performance, marching band, pit orchestra, and challenging climate conditions.
