StewMac Neck Shims for Guitar are expertly crafted from solid maple to offer an effective and precise solution for adjusting the angle of bolt-on necks. For years, players and repair shops have relied on shims to achieve the perfect neck pitch.
Designed to cover the entire heel of the neck, these shims provide a full-contact fit, eliminating gaps that can negatively impact tone and stability.
Full Contact and Precisely Tapered Shims: StewMac offers three different degrees for changing the pitch of any bolt-on neck:
0.25-degree shim: Offers the most versatility, allowing you to stack shims for precise adjustments
0.5-degree shim: The most commonly used option, perfect for Fender and other solidbody guitars
1-degree shim: Ideal for guitars with a Tune-o-matic or Floyd Rose bridge for better string break angle
Each shim is carefully tapered to provide accurate and stable adjustments:
0.25-degree shim: Tapers from 0.030" to 0.019" (0.76mm to 0.48mm)
0.5-degree shim: Tapers from 0.028" to 0.008" (0.71mm to 0.20mm)
1-degree shim: Tapers from 0.060" to 0.010" (1.52mm to 0.25mm)
Dimensions and Compatibility:
Shaped Shims: 2-3/16" x 3" (55.56mm x 76.12mm)
Blank Shims: 2-1/4" x 3" (57.15mm x 76.12mm)
The shaped shims fit most neck pockets with a rounded heel, and can be trimmed along the lasered line for a flat-heel pocket like a Telecaster. Blank shims are designed to accommodate custom designs, odd screw spacings, and smaller neck pockets, such as those with a Fender Micro-Tilt feature.
