Named after the Danish king Godfred, who ruled during the Viking Age, this early Viking sword draws inspiration from the world of Haithabu (Hedeby), one of the most important trading centers of Northern Europe during the early Middle Ages.

The design follows classic Viking sword forms with a compact guard positioned close to the hand, a broad multi-lobed pommel, and a straight double-edged blade featuring a deep fuller.
