When to Replace:
Common symptoms include a sun visor that no longer stays in the stowed position, the visor flopping down while driving, a cracked or broken plastic hook, the metal spring coming loose, the clip missing entirely, or the visor rattling over rough roads. The original OEM clip typically fails after 8-12 years of sun exposure due to UV-induced plastic embrittlement inside the cabin, most commonly on the passenger side where direct sunlight is strongest.
