Description

Keep Your Mercruiser Charging Reliably — Marine Alternator Built for Harsh Saltwater Environments
Is your boat battery always low, or your electronics acting up mid-voyage? On the water, alternator failure isn't just inconvenient — it's dangerous. Salt spray, constant humidity, and pounding V8 vibration kill automotive-grade alternators fast. Warning signs are clear: a voltmeter dipping below 12V while underway, a dead battery after a day on the water, dim navigation lights, or that ominous warning buzzer. If you're running a Mercruiser 4.3L, 5.7L, 350 Mag, 7.4L, 8.2L gas engine or a D-series diesel, a failing alternator means you're drifting — and not by choice.

Our Solution — A Direct-Fit Marine Alternator That Survives What the Sea Throws at It
This isn't a generic automotive alternator with a "marine" label slapped on. It's purpose-built for 1994–2011 Mercruiser sterndrive, ski, and inboard engines. It delivers a solid 65 amps at 12V — plenty to power your VHF radio, GPS chartplotter, fishfinder, bilge pumps, navigation lights, and engine electronics simultaneously. More importantly, it's engineered to keep doing it season after season, even when the bilge gets wet and the waves get rough.

Why Marine-Grade Construction Matters
Corrosion-Resistant Housing — Fully sealed against salt spray, condensation, and humidity that destroy standard alternators within months.
Stainless Steel Hardware — No rusted bolts. No corroded terminals. Every fastener is marine-spec stainless steel.
Epoxy-Coated Windings — Internal copper windings are sealed with a protective epoxy coating, preventing moisture-induced shorts and electrical failures.
Heavy-Duty Bearings — Reinforced bearings built to withstand relentless vibration from big-block V8 engines at wide-open throttle.

Installation Notes — Do It Once, Do It Right
Always disconnect battery negative before starting any work.
Remove the old alternator. Confirm mounting ears and bolt holes align — this is a direct OEM fit.
Inspect the 6-groove serpentine belt. If worn or glazed, replace it now and tension properly.
Apply marine-grade anti-seize compound on mounting bolt threads to prevent galvanic corrosion.
Connect the main output (B+) terminal to the starter or battery using 8 AWG or thicker marine-rated tinned wire.
Verify the engine ground strap is clean and tight — poor grounding is the #1 cause of charging issues on boats.
Reconnect battery, start engine, and measure voltage at the battery terminals: you should see 13.5–14.5V at idle.

Common Mistakes to Avoid
Installing a standard automotive (non-sealed) alternator — it will fail, fast.
Using undersized output wiring — causes dangerous voltage drop and excessive heat.
Forgetting to reconnect the engine ground strap after service.
Belt misalignment or using a belt with the wrong rib count (must be 6-rib serpentine).

What's Included
