Overview
Add thermal sensing to your embedded projects with the MLX90642-D110 infrared thermal camera module. Built around the Melexis MLX90642, this 32x24 thermal sensor array outputs a
temperature matrix that's ideal for heat-map style thermal imaging without the expense of higher-end infrared cameras. It's a practical choice for intelligent building demos, smart lighting
concepts, HVAC experiments, equipment temperature trend monitoring, and occupancy/presence concepts where relative heat distribution is the key signal.
Fast digital interface: The module communicates through I2C at up to 1MHz, enabling efficient capture of thermal camera data for real-time visualization, logging, and analysis. The 3.3V/5V
compatible working level helps reduce integration friction across microcontrollers and single-board computers.
Stable, low-noise performance: With NETD 0.065K RMS @ 2Hz refresh rate, this infrared thermal sensor provides consistent readings for hot-spot detection and temperature mapping. The D110
optics/FOV option is designed for broader scene coverage in room-scale or general monitoring prototypes.
Developer-friendly resources: Open development materials and tutorials are available for compatible with Raspberry Pi development boards, helping you start quickly with wiring, I2C configuration,
and basic data processing.
Notes: This is a thermal imaging sensor module (temperature array) and not a visible-light camera. It is not intended for medical diagnosis or safety-critical decisions. Results depend on refresh rate,
mounting, environment, and software processing.
