We've collaborated with My Naturewatch to offer the components needed to create your own Raspberry Pi-powered Naturewatch Wildlife Camera. This camera captures images using computer vision when it detects movement. By placing some food nearby, you can photograph various wildlife like birds, squirrels, foxes, and badgers. The My Naturewatch website provides instructions to assemble the device using these components. It's affordable and simple to build at home, in schools, clubs, nature-watching groups, or makerspaces. My Naturewatch is a collaborative research project between Goldsmiths University and the Royal College of Art, aiming to design digital devices for collecting visual and audio wildlife content around the UK. The Naturewatch Cam is the first of its kind, so check their website for more updates. The kit includes: Raspberry Pi Zero W, 32GB microSD card pre-loaded with NOOBS (+SD card adapter), Camera module for Raspberry Pi Zero, USB A to micro B cable, and a heatsink. Note that a USB power bank is not included, but it's easy to obtain one online, at supermarkets, or mobile phone shops (My Naturewatch recommends a 6000mAh or larger one). The stunning fox photo was captured using a My Naturewatch Kit by the Roberts family. Please note that the supplied microSD cards come pre-loaded with NOOBS, which might need to be deleted before installing the Naturewatch software.
