  • The DRV8871 device is a brushed DC motor driver suitable for printers, appliances, industrial equipment, and other small machines
  • Two logic inputs control the H-bridge driver, which consists of four N-channel metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistors (MOSFETs) capable of bidirectional motor control at peak currents up to 3.6A
  • Current decay mode allows the motor speed to be controlled by pulse width modulation (PWM) of the input. If both inputs are driven low, the motor driver will enter a low-power sleep mode
  • The DRV8871 device features advanced current regulation circuitry that does not use an analog voltage reference or external sense resistor
  • The device provides comprehensive protection against fault and short-circuit issues, including under-voltage protection (UVLO), over-current protection (OCP) and thermal over-voltage protection (TSD). After the fault is eliminated, the device will automatically resume normal operation

Using it is actually very simple. Connect the motor to the OUT terminal block. Provides 6.5-45VDC power supply on VMotor and H-bridge on IN1 and IN2
Input control. You can even PWM the input and the driver chip will do the right thing.
You can enable an external Rlim setting of the current limit. By default we soldered a ~2A current limit on a 30K resistor, but you can remove that
this resistor and/or solder a resistor on it to change the resistance and change the polarity limited.
Each DRV8871 Motor Driver has two 2-pin terminal blocks and a short section of connector for the motor driver breakout. Requires some light soldering to connect
splices and terminal blocks, but it is a simple task that can be accomplished with basic soldering equipment.
