Histidine decarboxylase (HDC), an enzyme, facilitates the conversion of histidine to histamine. Found in histamine-producing ECL cells and mast cells, HDC's activity is inhibited by absorption with 10-100 ug immunogen per ml diluted antiserum. In Western blot analysis, the antiserum identifies 54 kDa, 73 kDa, and 63 kDa forms (rat stomach, as per Dartsch et al., 1998).
