A versatile alkaloid exhibiting diverse biological actions; it inhibits AChE with an IC50 of 15 μM; demonstrates nematocidal properties against S. ratti and S. venezuelensis third instar larvae, with PC50s of 18 and 30 μM respectively; inhibits platelet aggregation induced by thrombin in vitro (IC50 = 54.16 μg/ml); enhances gastric emptying in rat models of apomorphine- and laparotomy-induced delayed gastric emptying at doses of 1 and 3 mg/kg.
