Advanced DMEM/F12 is a popular basal medium that enables the cultivation of mammalian cells with significantly reduced Fetal Bovine Serum (FBS) supplementation. Unlike traditional DMEM/F12, this medium allows for a 50–90% reduction in serum supplementation without altering cellular proliferation or morphology. Many cell lines can be directly cultured in this medium without prior adaptation. Successfully cultured cell lines include Vero, LX-2, KGN, C8-D1A, Hela, 4T1, NIH-3T3, KLE, ARPE-19, JHH-7, NCI-H2009, and others.
