Africa Heartwood Project - Pair (2) of Professional Balafon Mallets for African Bala Marimba – Handcrafted Hardwood Stick - Xylophone Mallets with Natural Gum Rubber Tip - 12"-13" long
HAND-CRAFTED IN MALI, AFRICA – Our professional Marimba mallets are hand-crafted in Africa by village cultural artisans supported by the non-profit Africa Heartwood Project.
SANDED SMOOTH HARDWOOD STICK WITH NATURAL GUM RUBBER TIP – These percussion mallets feature a hand-carved mango wood stick that is sanded smooth for comfort and ease of use. The natural gum rubber tip softens and darkens with age and use
TRADITIONAL BALAFON PLAYING – Crafted in the old tradition using extracted natural gum, which is sap from the Rubber Tree. It is harvested, processed, and wound tightly in thin bands around the end of a mango wood stick. The process is very involved and painstaking, which results in the best sound quality for traditional balafon playing.
IDEAL SIZE FOR BALAFON PLAYING – Each bala mallet measures 12"-13" in length with a 2" ball tip, designed to provide the ideal balance of comfort and sound for balafon playing.
SUPPORTING COMMUNITY AND TRADITION – Our musical instruments are unique. All products of Africa HeartWood Project are hand-crafted in Africa by village cultural artisans. Each purchase contributes directly to Africa Heartwood Project, supporting the livelihoods of communities in Africa. This non-profit, run by passionate volunteers, fights poverty and promotes community development in West Africa. Your choice makes a difference, blending the joy of music with social impact.
