This brake is a non-excitation brake, powered by 24VDC, and can produce a maximum static friction torque of 0.25Nm (35.4oz.in). It is ideal for Nema 17 size stepper motors.
Its working principle is:
When energized, the armature is pulled by the electromagnetic force in the magnet assembly, thus overcoming the spring action. This allows the friction disc to rotate freely. When the power supply is interrupted, the electromagnetic force disappears and the pressure spring mechanically forces the armature plate to sandwich the friction disk between itself and the pressure plate. This creates torque to hold the load.
