Guaiacwood essential oil is derived from the Palo Santo tree (Bulnesia sarmientoi); despite its' name, it does not come from the Guaiacum tree. A semi-solid mass that melts to a full liquid form at around one hundred and thirteen degrees Fahrenheit. At room temperature, can even be “scooped” out with a spoon in that form. Because of its semi-solid state, it is recommended one dilute the oil in a carrier oil, to make it easier to access and use; for example, in a diffuser. A base note in perfumery, it has a sweetly smoky and Earthy aroma with a slight floral undertone. It is widely used in perfumery, as a base note, and pairs well with Cistus.
