The North American T-2 Buckeye was the United States Navy's intermediate training aircraft, intended to introduce U.S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corps student naval aviators and student naval flight officers to jets.[1] It entered service in 1959, beginning the replacement process of the Lockheed T2V SeaStar, and was itself replaced by the McDonnell Douglas T-45 Goshawk in 2008. Honor the jet that trained generations of U.S. Navy and Marine aviators with this T-2 “Air Superiority” Buckeye Patch, a 4-inch embroidered emblem featuring rigid plastic backing for lasting display quality. The North American T-2 Buckeye was the Navy's first jet specifically designed for pilot training, bridging the gap between propeller trainers and high-performance fleet aircraft. Its reliability, simplicity, and distinctive design made it the cornerstone of U.S. Navy flight training from the 1950s until its retirement in the early 2000s. Embroidered with vivid colors, tight stitching, and precision detailing, this patch perfectly captures the spirit of naval jet aviation. The plastic backing gives it form and rigidity—ideal for framed displays, plaques, or heritage collections celebrating America's aviation history.
