After the trivialties of maneuvering tanks around on tough terrain during WWI, beginning production of newly designed Churchill began shortly after WWI. it became the tank of WWII brought into condsideration the challenges faced previously. Heavier and faster, the Churchill tanks were modified several times before reaching their full potential. The MK IV version saw the largest product run of over 1600 tanks built. Deployed to North Africa, the Churchill was able to provide ample support to push on the retreating Afrika Korps escaping through the mountains to Tunisia and posed no problem for these tanks. Superior to the Tiger I, they were able to damage a turret on one which was left behind, allowing the British to capture the tank and bring it back as their battle prize.
