Lapis lazuli is a rock that is composed of three important minerals: 1) lazurite (royal blue), 2) calcite (white), and 3) pyrite (metallic gold). This lapis lazuli (grade A) is from Afghanistan and has a very deep blue color that is mixed with dark royal blue and white hues. This material darkens and deepens when the stone is wet or sealed with an adhesive, and is a classic choice for most woodworking and ring inlay projects. Our lapis lazuli, grade A, has more calcite (white) than our crushed Lapis AA or AAA products, with approximately 60-75% lazurite and 25-40% calcite. Our medium crushed material is considered to be sand sized, from very fine to coarse sand. Our sand-sized material is ideal for a wide range of creative projects, including woodworking inlays, memorial and resin jewelry, orgonite pyramids, ring inlay, resin molds, mosaics, terrariums, bezel cups, resin art, embellishments, and metaphysical projects.
