NongHyup sea salt comes from the Sinan Islands in Korea's West Sea (the Yellow Sea). The sea salt is sun-dried and harvested on the tidal flats in the Gochang Biosphere Reserve which is part of the UNESCO Man and Biosphere Program. The clean coastal waters, shining sun, and refreshing wind make the perfect conditions to harvest natural sea salt. Our sea salt is clean, high quality, and very safe to consume. We use a high tech seawater purification system on the incoming water to the tidal flats. Contaminants are filtered out while leaving the salt's minerals and nutrients intact. Additionally NongHyup sea salt is HACCP certified meaning it meets global food safety standards. Roasted coarse grain sea salt is an excellent ingredient in cooking. It seasons fish, meat, soups, soy sauce, and side dishes well. It can also be used to brine Korean pickled cabbage (kimchi). Our sea salt comes in a resealable bag for convenience.
