Special Features

  • OUR PLATES ARE PRE-POURED. DON'T WASTE TIME POURING AGAR. The plates are pre-poured PDA (Potato Dextrose Agar) with Tartaric Acid (TA). PDA is general purpose medium for yeasts and mold. Potato Dextrose Agar is used for the detection of yeasts and molds in dairy products and prepared foods. It can also be used for the cultivation of yeasts and molds from clinical specimens.
  • THESE PDA PLATES ARE MANUFACTURED IN THE USA. They have a thick layer of agar which promotes good growth, and have been professionally packaged.
  • PLATE DIMENSIONS. The plates are 100mm in diameter x 15mm deep. The agar in the plates has a depth on average of 6-7mm.
  • DESCRIPTION: 0.4% Potato Infusion, 2.0% Dextrose, 1.5% Agar, 0.14% Tartaric Acid.

Description

Potato Dextrose Agar with TA (Tartaric Acid) is recommended for the microbial examination of food and dairy products. Potato Dextrose Agar consists of potato infusion and dextrose. Potato infusion provides a nutrient base for growth of most fungi. Dextrose serves as a growth stimulant. The incorporation of tartaric acid (TA) in the medium lowers the pH, to inhibit bacterial growth.
