When the pressed-in drain plug receptacle of the original equipment engine oil pan on certain General Motors vehicles leaks due to an improperly tightened oil drain plug, the dealership's repair solution is to replace that failed engine oil pan with a replacement of the same design using a pressed-in plug boss. This only invites another future pan failure, leaks and potential engine damage. This Dorman OE FIX oil pan design replaces that original equipment oil pan but features a bung that's welded into place to help prevent similar issues. The plug boss has been upgraded to a larger thread size to help prevent damage from future over-torque scenarios.
