These super-micro filter pads, custom made to fit the Rena API Filstart xP Canister Filter, remove small, microscopic particles before the water is returned to the aquarium. For proper installation, place this pad into the top filtration compartment of the Rena filter. Replace the pad every time the water is changed or at least once a month, or as per directed by your fishcare professional
