"Power Train '66" was Deere's largest new product introduction following "Deere Day in Dallas," which had introduced the New Generation Tractors on August 30, 1960. "The Power Train '66" announcement was made in late summer(August) 1965 for the 1966 production year. Production of the 5010 ended in July 1965, just as 5020 production began. The 5020 was advertised in its debut as being the "World's Most Powerful Standard Tractor," touting a powerful (observed) 132-hp Diesel Engine. It was a well-matched challenger to crawler tractors, offered agile speed, and was promoted as a low-maintenance, long-life machine, as well as offering comfort and convenience for the operator.
