LS cars are gaining in popularity at tracks across the country. At Knoxville Raceway's class, the CT525 LS crate engine program is just one of many that are running this crate engine in an effort to make racing more affordable. These LS crate engines do not run a , and as such these engines have a belt alternator and a battery to the engine's ignition system.
The commonly used battery for this application is the unit. Weighing in at just under 1.5 pounds, the the LS car's CT525 ignition system and more without breaking a sweat, but obviously is not utilized or able to start the engine -even LS-based cars are still push started-. The issue becomes where to mount the in your car, because as we all know, these chassis do not have much room. The answer was a metal battery box to keep the secure.
Knowing how critical any additional weight in a car, and its placement in the chassis be, helped us to design and manufacture the lightest battery box for the possible, while maintaining enough strength to support the race after race. The aluminum battery box includes mounting hardware and retaining top plate with hardware, ready to install.
