Flag design consisting of a horned skeleton using a spear to pierce a bleeding heart toasting the devil, is typically attributed to the pirate Edward Teach, better known as Blackbeard. The drops of bloody signify no quarter. This patch has become closely associated with the U.S. Special Forces in recent years as some of the teams seemed to have adopted it and Blackbeard's lore to some degree.
