What is the difference between IR filters?
Infrared filters, sometimes called infrared filters or heat-absorbing filters, are designed to allow mid-infrared wavelengths in the infrared while blocking visible light. They are often used on devices with bright incandescent bulbs (such as slideshows and overhead projectors) to prevent unnecessary heating. Since many camera sensors have high sensitivity to near-infrared light, filters are also used in solid-state (CCD or CMOS) cameras to allow infrared light. These filters are usually blue in color because they sometimes block some of the shorter visible and UV wavelengths of light as well.
